Admissions

Children start school at Ashlands First School in the September of the Academic Year in which they turn 5. Initial entry is staggered over the first few weeks to allow for a successful integration into our school. The school does not handle the intake of Reception age children as this is undertaken by Somerset County Council’s Admissions Department. They can be contacted at 0300 123 2224 or by clicking the icon below.

For advice about admitting a child once they have started school elsewhere, please contact the school office or seek advice by contacting the Admissions Department on the link or telephone number above.

Oversubscription criteria

We accept siblings of those already in our school as priority along with those living within our catchment area.

Where an application has been refused in any year group, the child will be placed on a waiting list. This will be kept strictly in order of oversubscription criteria by the Local Authority, as the Admission Authority, and the child will remain on the waiting list until the end of the academic year in which the application was refused. Parents are responsible for informing the Admission Authority of any changes in their circumstances, which could affect their place on the waiting list.
