We would like to say a huge’ thank you’ to the volunteers at Crewkerne Museum who organised a range of really interesting activities for our children to take part in time support their learning about Crewkerne in the past.
Hazel Class and Ash Class Year One’s were given the opportunity to use the old kitchen and look at how people lived in Granny’s day! The practical activities were a hit and Mrs Grasby supported some keen knitters!
Holly and Beech class focussed on the Victorian/Edwardian period and were fascinated by the old kitchen with its old copper and fireplace. They did not like the idea of going to school in the past! After trying on some of the clothes that were worn by olden day children I think they appreciated the soft materials we wear today!
Many thanks to the parent / family helpers, you all made it possible for us to go and the children definitely benefitted from the experience.
